Since I have just completed a novel based on my translation of Tolstoy’s diaries, I thought it apt to begin my blog with a quote from Tolstoy.
“The art of good writing for a sensitive and intelligent person, is not in knowing what to write but in knowing what not to write. No ingenious insertions can improve a composition as much as relentless slashing of lines and paragraphs.”
